Dani W listened to oldies including Motown soul music growing up, particularly artists such as The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, The Impressions and Curtis Mayfield. Among her favorites are also Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Sade, So For Real, Imogen Heap, and Boyz II Men. While in college, she went to watch a group called the Jazzyfatnasties perform in Washington, D.C.; her love for live music was ignited beyond measure.

Dani W’s career change from stockbroker to indie artist is featured in this London interview HERE.

The Sound

Often compared to Sade, Dani W also found her first place on stage with a funk band initially.  Dani sings along side an amazing soulful lead singer Josh Kuhn in a funk band called Illegal Download Collection.  She continues to perform with IDC at local venues such as The Mint, the OC Fair, and the Trip Club.  Dani W is working with Cori Jacobs (whose credits include Lauryn Hill, Sly Stone, Beyonce) to fuse her funk meets intimate ambient soul styles together into the first studio album.

Danielle’s intention is to share and connect with a global audience; with a message encouraging healthy relationships.  She looks to continue collaborating with other talented singer/songwriters, to tour internationally, especially in South America, China, Japan, UK and throughout Europe.

Danielle also looks forward to collaborating with each of the powerhouses who have inspired her which include: Sade, Emeli Sande, Melony Fiona, Diane Warren, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Usher, Allen Shamblin, Celine Dion, Alicia Keys, Allen Stone, Adele, Lauryn Hill, Stargate, Bruno Mars, Jessi J and Ne-yo.
